BOX Football - Game 8 at East Carolina

Game 8- Another Saturday afternoon TV game for the BOX (I believe this one is being carried on the Raycom family of networks.  It's a sunny 74 degrees which makes me wonder why anyone lives anywhere but East Carolina.  JC is our highlighted player in pregame. Brad Nessler calls him a monster.

1st quarter-
ECU will get the ball first. Shalvi defies his real life mangled hip by making the first tackle of the game. You can't keep video game Shalvi down!
After a 3 and out on D, it's a 2 and in on O. 57-yard TD bomb from Nick to Kaylor. 7-0 BOX.
ECU takes 7 plays to tie it up, but our D immediately gets a chance to redeem themselves when Greg runs back the ensuing kick-off 87 yards for the TD. 14-7 BOX.
Pete nicks an INT after the ECU TE drops the ball right into Pete's hands.
And then Nick throws one back. And then there are punts. And then the 1st quarter ends. BOX 14 - ECU 7.

2nd quarter-
Our first attempt at running the option may be our last. The pitch is tipped and a 400-pound defensive lineman picks it up and runs away from our entire offense on his way to the endzone. 14-14.
Kaylor turns an 8-yard curl pattern into a 59-yard TD catch by breaking one tackle and juking the shit out of the safety.  Between his miraculous baseball run and his last two football games, video game Kaylor is having a Tecmo Bo Jackson-esque run. 21-14.
Agati blows up a screen pass and Corso compares his hit to a truck taking out a bicycle.
Laura hits a FG after PJ mistakenly dives into the ground instead of running through the 20 yards of unoccupied space between him and the endzone. 24-14.
Some porous end of half D leads to an ECU TD. 24-21.
An end of half hail mary leads to an INT with a nerve inducingly long return, but PJ comes up with a key tackle to keep it 24-21.

3rd quarter-
Joey puts a hold on the ECU comeback with an INT.
Nick busts out on 3rd and long and scrambles 30 yards for the TD. 31-21.
Katy sack leads to punt leads to Laura FG. 34-21.
Somebody got a pick 6. If you guessed it's me, you've been paying attention to this season. 41-21. ECU is not enjoying the 3rd quarter.
ECU tries to run a screen pass and 4 BOX defenders are there to take down the QB.
Now that they're down 20, ECU has to pass a lot. INT fest! Baum with the pick, then the fumble, which I recover but do not return for a TD... lazy. 41-21 after 3.

4th quarter-
The announcers think we should put the back-ups in. F that noise... we need stats!
Vardaro TD! Stats stats stats! 48-21.
After an ECU TD... STATS! Kaylor breaks another tackle and scores his 3rd TD of the day. 55-28.
