BOX Baseball - Game 30 vs. Washington

Game 30- Sure the BOX offense managed 17 hits, but only 5 of them ended up mattering in the 3-2 win over the Natinals. Kaylor hit a big 2-run home run in the bottom of the 8th to tie it at 2. (Well, to call it big might be an overstatement. According to the stadium measurement the ball went 379 ft. How that can happen when the ball landed right above the 374 ft. sign is quite a mystery.)

In the 9th, Werley led of with a bunt single and then stole second. After Jenny popped out, Woodyard lined a base hit to center. Werley got a late start from second but still attempted to score the winning run. He was out by inches but the throw to the plate allowed Bob to take second. With 2 outs, Chimpy lined almost the exact same hit to center but this time Bob got a much better jump than Bob did and was able to score the winning run and everyone walked off happy.

Bill Heaston got his first start in place of the injured Katy K. going 6 and allowing 2 runs. Becky pitched a scoreless 8th & 9th to pick up the win.
