Game 39- In real life the Phillies are averaging 16 hits every 3 games. In video game life the Phillies had 16 in hits in one game. The 4 runs resulting from those hits were enough to end the 10-game BOX winning streak.
Mike started and struggled. He only lasted 5 innings giving up 12 hits and all 4 runs. The BOX offense only managed 7 hits and only once did we get more than one hit in an inning.
Notes: Grogg started in place of a slumping Werley (average down to .218) but Bob did come into the game as a pinch runner and later got a hit... Apparently Phillies pitcher Ryan Madson is an offense force. Even though he's a relief pitcher, he's hitting .320 and has 15 rbi.

BOX Baseball - Game 38 at Washington
Game 38- This game was made in 2008, so there is no Stephen Strasburg coming to save the Nationals. Instead they keep sending out crap piled on crap. The first 3 pitchers the Nats had on the mound for this gmae had ERAs over 7 on the year. The BOX took full advantage with a season high 10 runs on 21 hits.
Dave had the best BOX offensive game of the year going 5 for 5 with 3 runs, 3 rbi, 2 doubles, and a homer. I also homered.
Ray went 5 to pick up the win. Greg, Stella, and Bill combined to close it out.
Notes: Werley left the game after an awkward head first slide... Fuzzy was named NL player of the week for his 16k win... 10 straight wins for the BOX.

BOX Baseball - Game 37 at Washington
Game 37- Aggressive baserunning plus the Fuzzball = 1 more BOX victory.
Chimpy held the Nationals to 2 hits over 8 innings and the BOX concentrated 8 of their 9 hits over a 3 inning stretch where we scored all 4 runs. Key to the offense was moving runners along by any means necessary, in this case base hopping on sac flies and botched double steals.
I was named player of the game after knocking in the 1st run. Fuzzy had to settle for simply being the winner even though he only gave up 2 hits while striking out 16 and going 2 for 2 at the plate and driving in a run.

BOX Baseball - Game 36 at Washington
Game 36- The BOX marches on. Not really sure what happened in this game other than it is probably the first game in major league history to be interrupted because someone fell asleep in the middle of it.

BOX Baseball - Game 34 at Toronto
Game 34- Roy Halladay is not going to be sending Chimpy any Christmas cards (of course he won't, Chimpy is a stuffed Chimp, but work with me here for a second.) For his second consecutive start against the BOX Halladay was in position to get the win and for the second consecutive time Chimpy swung the game the other way.
Kaylor got the BOX on the board with his 8th home run of the year, but left the game in the 7th after an unsuccessful dive to stop the 2-run double down the line that gave the Blue Jays the lead. Chimpy entered the game as an injury replacement and on the very first pitch he saw in the top of the 8th he blasted a 3-run homer over the wall in left-center. Ken made it a 5-run inning with a 2-run single and Joey hit his first home run of the year in the 9th to finish the BOX scoring.
Mike allowed 3 runs in 6+ innings but was not involved in the decision. Stella got her first career win for finishing up the 7th and Bill pitched the last two innings without allowing a run. The win was the BOX's 6th in a row.

BOX Baseball - Game 33 at Toronto
Game 33- Kaylor had the big bat early and a lack of pinch hitters ended up being a blessing in disguise as the BOX defeated Toronto 4-3 in 12 innings.
The game started well as a Woodyard leadoff walk (further cementing his place at the top of the lineup) was followed by a single and fielders choice putting runners on 1st and 3rd for Kaylor. He sent the first pitch he saw into the 2nd deck in left field for his 7th home run of the year. The BOX wouldn't get another baserunner until the 8th inning.
Meanwhile the Blue Jays chipped away against Ray and tied it in the 5th. No one really came close to scoring again until the 9th when pinch-hitter extraordinaire Chimpy slammed a ball to the deepest part of centerfield but it hit the top of the wall for a double and he was stranded there.
In the 12th Gary hit a one-out single and stole second. Agati hit a sharp ground ball to short that caused Gary to be tagged out in a rundown between 2nd & 3rd. With two outs and a less than swift Agati on first we weren't going to use one of our remaining two pinch hitters, so Jay stepped to the plate. This turned out to be a genius coaching move. Jay ripped a shot over the shortstop which skidded on the astroturf and rolled all the way to the wall. Agati had his racing shoes on and scored all the way from first, Jay tried to stretch into a triple and was out at third, but that hardly mattered.
Charlotte set them down 1-2-3 in the 12th and the BOX won their 5th in a row.
Notes: Werley left the game in the 8th after sliding awkwardly and jamming a finger.... For the first time all season the BOX had three consecutive batters strike out in the 3rd. This happened because I forgot to pause the game while answering a phone call.

BOX Baseball - Game 32 vs. Washington
Game 32- One game after a season high in homers the BOX bats went back to bed against a pitcher who came into the game with a 10+ ERA. The good news is we only needed one run on this day as Fuzzy, Becky, and Charlotte combined to scatter 10 hits and shut out the Nats.
I was named player of the game for the second day in a row. Were this an actual baseball team, I would now have $100 in gift certificates to a local steakhouse. Instead, I will just have to be pleased that I've managed an RBI two games in a row. Woodyard also deserves some steakhouse love as late, raising his average to .426 after moving into the leadoff spot.
Fuzzy started the game but once again had to leave the game with an elbow strain. We really should stop with the pre-game arm wrestling warm-ups. Becky picked up the win with 2.1 scoreless innings and Charlotte worked around 2 hits in the ninth to pick up the save.

BOX Baseball - Game 31 vs. Washington
Game 31- This is probably as close as we're ever going to get to an offensive explosion. Oliver Perez is not a very good pitcher as evidenced by 3 BOX home runs and 2 more near misses in a 8-3 victory over the Nationals.
I hit my first homer of the year and just missed on a second. Dave hit his second, Ryno hit his sixth, and only a leaping catch at the wall stopped Joey from hitting his first of the year.
